Rules and controls
Turn over two cards at a time to find identical pictures. A matching pair stays face up; a mismatched pair turns down again after about 0.85 seconds. Find every pair to finish. Each second flip counts as one move.
A worked example
If you saw a star at the left of the first row and another at the right of the second row, remember those two positions. On a later turn, flip both stars consecutively to keep the pair.
Beginner tips
Remember a picture together with its position. When a familiar picture appears, try its known partner instead of uncovering two unknown cards. Time and attempts are personal records, not a score to buy anything.
Choose a difficulty
Easy has 6 pairs (12 cards), medium 8 pairs (16 cards) and hard 12 pairs (24 cards). Easy and medium use 4 columns; hard uses 6. More cards mean more locations to distinguish.
Questions and answers
Does a mismatch count as a move?
Yes. Every pair of flips counts once, whether or not it matches. Tapping an already matched card or the same open card does not add a move.
Can I come back to a puzzle I started?
Yes. Progress is saved in this browser, so open the same puzzle at the same site address on the same device and browser to continue. Clearing site data or changing device, browser or domain means the existing record will not carry over.
How can I enjoy the daily challenge and practice?
The daily challenge gives everyone the same puzzle for a matching game, UTC date and level. Choose “New practice” to play another practice round at your own pace. The same round repeats its puzzle; different rounds can occasionally have the same layout.
